Bury 0 - 0 Barnsley: Barnsley held at bay by Bury

Play-off chasing pair Bury and Barnsley could not be separated as they played out a 0-0 draw at Gigg Lane.

The Tykes bossed large parts of an entertaining Roses clash, but were then reduced to 10 men in the 82nd minute following Adam Hammill's ugly challenge on Bury substitute Danny Rose.

Somehow the score remained goalless at the interval despite Barnsley dominating the first period.

Conor Hourihane blazed an early shot over the top for the visitors, while defender Alfie Mawson saw a well-struck effort bravely blocked by Peter Clarke.

Loanee Lloyd Isgrove thought he had broken the deadlock but was thwarted by a smart save from Bury keeper Ian Lawlor, who then acrobatically dived full length to tip a Josh Scowen shot inches over the top.

Sam Winnall also volleyed over from close range towards the end of a first period in which Bury did not get a shot on target.

Winnall went close just before the hour mark, seeing an excellent glancing header palmed away low down by the diving Lawlor, but the Tykes were left to hang on a man short.
