York City 1 - 2 Northampton Town: Northampton's club record extends to 10 wins in a row

Northampton extended their club-record breaking run to a 10th straight league win at struggling York.

A goal in each half from loan strikers James Collins and John Marquis wrapped up a 2-1 victory for the Cobblers.

Home skipper Russell Penn scored a spectacular consolation in stoppage time, but it proved too little, too late for the Minstermen.

The Cobblers started brightly with Marquis charging clear through on 17 minutes only for home keeper Scott Flinders to smother at his feet.

York were chasing shadows for long periods of the first half, although Jake Hyde shot wide from 20 yards just before the half-hour mark.

Collins broke the deadlock, however, on 40 minutes when he headed in from six yards at the far post following Brendan Moloney's right-wing cross.

Northampton doubled their advantage six minutes into the second half when Collins burst down the right and his low cross was converted from a yard out by Marquis.

Penn, brought on as a substitute on the hour-mark, thumped in a 25-yard dipping volley in the 93rd minute, but there was no time to make it relevant to the final outcome.
