Ayr Utd. vs Stenhousemuir - McLauchlan and Adams returns to boost Ayr

Posted Saturday, January 30, 2016 by PA

Ayr welcome back Gerry McLauchlan from suspension and fit again Jamie Adams for the visit of Stenhousemuir to Somerset Park with Brian Gilmour and Robbie Crawford in contention for starting roles after knocks.

A knee injury keeps Paddy Boyle out while an ankle problem will keep Ross Docherty sidelined, as manager Ian McCall looks for his men to build on last weekend's 3-1 win at Albion Rovers.

McCall said: "Everyone worked their socks off to get that win and we simply have to produce another performance like that to defeat Stenhousemuir.

"They had a good win at Forfar last weekend so we have to keep our standards high to succeed."

Stenhousemuir goalkeeper Jamie Barclay is ruled out with a thigh strain and experienced front man Jason Scotland is unlikely to be risked against the Honest Men despite returning to training this week after a hamstring injury.

Carlos Mazana is unavailable due to family commitments, while manager Brown Ferguson said: "Ayr are a good side and were always going to come back to winning ways after a disappointing run over the past few weeks.

"We won well away at Forfar last weekend and that got us right back into things in terms of a play-off place. We will look to build on that by winning at Ayr."
