Newport County vs Dagenham and Redbridge - Strikers battle it out for Newport starts

Forward trio Conor Wilkinson, Deane Smalley and John-Christophe Ayina will be hoping to go straight into Newport's line-up for the clash against Dagenham at Rodney Parade.

Wilkinson and Smalley were signed on loan from Bolton and Plymouth respectively, while the unattached Ayina joins County for the remainder of the season.

The trio's arrival bolsters an injury-hit squad, with midfielder Medy Elito a major doubt after being stretchered off in the FA Cup third-round defeat to Blackburn on Monday with a leg gash.

Goalkeeper Joe Day was dismissed late on meaning he will start a three-match suspension, while Yan Klukowski (hamstring) is a doubt and Alex Rodman and striker Lenell John-Lewis miss out with similar problems.

Dagenham boss John Still has no fresh injury concerns for the trip to South Wales.

Having lost 2-1 to Northampton last time out, Still could make a number of changes as they look to draw Newport into the relegation battle.

Striker Oliver Hawkins, a recent arrival from non-League Hemel, is pushing for his first start while MK Dons loanee Harry Hickford is waiting to make his debut.

Both Zavon Hines (knee) and Matt Richards (Achilles) are still missing for the Daggers.
