Stranraer 1 - 5 Peterhead: Sutherland shines as Peterhead cruise to victory

Posted Sunday, January 17, 2016 by PA

Shane Sutherland shone as Peterhead surged to a 5-1 victory at Stranraer.

The striker opened the scoring after he was picked out expertly by Rory McAllister and placed the ball coolly past Max Currie.

He then made it 2-0 after heading home Steven Noble's long ball.

The in-form signing from Elgin seized on a poor back-pass to set up James Stevenson for a third before half-time and effectively put the game beyond Brian Reid's men.

Ryan Thomson set up Craig Malcolm to reduce the arrears, but Ally Gilchrist headed in a fourth from a Kevin Dzierzawski ball.

Leighton McIntosh poked in a fifth to end a miserable day for the Blues.
