Stenhousemuir vs Brechin City - Stenhousemuir's clash with Brechin abandoned

Posted Sunday, January 17, 2016 by PA

Stenhousemuir looked poised to see off Brechin - for a first home win since October - before the match was abandoned at half-time.

The Warriors were only 1-0 up but controlled affairs against their rock-bottom opponents. That was until ever-thickening snow made further progress impossible.

Colin McMenamin grabbed the solitary strike after 38 minutes, poking smartly past Graeme Smith, but his effort will sadly be wiped from the record books.

The striker relished the assignment in rough conditions and had two other efforts, one excellently parried by Smith.

The already-frozen pitch seemed to harden further as the sun set, making conditions unsafe for the players.
