Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed he will be busy during the January transfer window, although he declined to name any targets.
Another spate of injuries at the Emirates Stadium has left Wenger short of midfield options, with Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Thomas Rosicky all unavailable.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for FC Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny, but while Wenger refused to confirm reports that they are in talks with the Swiss club, the Frenchman did admit he'll be active in the transfer market next month.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Newcastle on Saturday, Wenger said: "We cannot announce anything at the moment. Nothing has been concluded.
"I will be busy that is for sure. I have already said we are short."
Wenger came under criticism from the club's fans at the start of the campaign after he signed just goalkeeper Petr Cech during the off-season transfer window.
