Sampdoria 2 - 0 Palermo: Samp give boss Vincenzo Montella first win
Posted Monday, December 21, 2015 by PA
Sampdoria pulled away from the Serie A relegation zone with an overdue 2-0 victory over Palermo.
Vincenzo Montella had presided over three defeats and a draw since replacing Walter Zenga, but goals from Roberto Soriano and David Ivan snapped the winless run and boosted Samp six points clear of the bottom three.
After a nervous first half, Soriano was on hand to convert Antonio Cassano's pass after the former Real Madrid striker completed a lung-busting dribble in the 53rd minute.
Ivan, a 20-year-old Slovakian midfielder, made the points safe in the 76th minute with his first goal at this level.
