Jason McCarthy's second career goal led Wycombe to a 2-1 victory over promotion-chasing Oxford at Adams Park.

Garry Thompson put the home side ahead with his sixth of the season before Oxford levelled on 65 minutes through Liam Sercombe. However, 10 minutes later McCarthy headed home to seal the three points for the Chairboys.

After a drab first half Wycombe took the lead five minutes after the break, Thompson nodding home a Joe Jacobson corner from six yards out.

Oxford, who headed into the game having not lost in their last 11 games in all competitions, drew level thanks to some fantastic hold-up play in the box by substitute Patrick Hoban.

He backed into Anthony Stewart before playing a delicate pass around the corner to tee up Sercombe, who rifled the ball into the roof of the net from 10 yards out.

But Wycombe regained the lead ten minutes later thanks to another superb delivery from Jacobson, this time a free-kick headed home by McCarthy.
