Huddersfield Town vs Bristol City - Dean Whitehead set to miss out for Huddersfield

Posted Friday, December 11, 2015 by PA

Huddersfield will be without influential midfielder Dean Whitehead for the home clash with Bristol City.

Whitehead has been one of the Terriers' key players since his summer arrival from Middlesbrough but faces six to eight weeks out with the knee injury he suffered during last week's 2-0 win at Birmingham, with Kyle Dempsey or Jonathan Hogg expected to take his place.

Elliot Ward has returned to the club on loan from Bournemouth and fellow centre-back Joel Lynch is back in training after his hamstring injury.

Manager David Wagner must decide whether either player deserves a recall or he could stick with the defence which kept a clean sheet last time out.

Bristol City defender Nathan Baker misses out through suspension.

Baker must serve a one-match ban after being sent off for two bookable offences in the 2-0 home defeat to Blackburn last weekend.

But Marlon Pack is available after sitting out the Blackburn game through suspension and could return to the City midfield.

Robins manager Steve Cotterill says several bumps and bruises in the camp may affect team selection ahead of the first of two away matches in the space of four days, with struggling City set to visit high-flying Derby on Tuesday night.
