Portsmouth welcome back on-loan striker Caolan Lavery for the visit of Hartlepool.

Lavery, who has scored three goals in eight appearances for Pompey, missed the FA Cup second-round win over Accrington last weekend under the terms of his loan from Sheffield Wednesday.

Fellow forward Jayden Stockley is fit after an ankle injury but midfielder Gary Roberts is still out.

Roberts has pencilled in a return to action on Boxing Day having been sidelined since October with an ankle problem.

Hartlepool winger Kal Naismith will sit out against his parent club under the terms of his loan agreement.

The 23-year-old missed the 1-1 FA Cup second-round draw at Salford last Friday evening as he was cup-tied having already played for Pompey in the competition this season.

Midfielder Michael Woods is back in contention after playing 90 minutes for the reserves in midweek following his recovery from a thigh problem.

However, defender Harry Worley (ankle) and striker Billy Paynter (Achilles) remain on the sidelines.
