US Sassuolo Calcio 2 - 1 Lazio : Lazio's winning run ends at Sassuolo

Posted Monday, October 19, 2015 by PA

Sassuolo defeated Lazio 2-1 on Sunday to end the Rome club's three-match winning run in Serie A.

Domenico Berardi 's seventh-minute penalty, awarded after Lazio's Senad Lulic fouled Paolo Cannavaro, put the hosts ahead.

Sassuolo doubled their lead on the hour when Simone Missiroli pounced on a loose ball and drilled a 15-yard strike past visiting goalkeeper Federico Marchetti.

Lazio reduced the arrears seven minutes later when Keita set up Felipe Anderson in the area and his diagonal shot found the back of the net.

The Biancoceleste never threatened an equaliser, though, and ended the game with 10 men after Danilo Cataldi was shown a second yellow card with seconds remaining.

Sassuolo are now in fifth place, level on 15 points with Lazio.
