Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes scored his third goal of the season to help his side climb up to eighth place in La Liga following a 3-0 home win against Malaga.
Los Che were gifted a 19th-minute lead when Malaga's Brazilian striker Charles diverted the ball into his own net and Andre Gomes doubled the home side's lead in the 33rd minute before Daniel Parejo converted a late penalty.
Charles had headed a golden chance wide with the game goalless in the 15th minute before scoring at the wrong end four minutes later.
Malaga's central defender Marcos Angeleri was forced off injured in the 32nd minute and his side were dealt another major blow within a minute when Gomes rifled in a low angled shot after a corner was not satisfactorily cleared.
The visitors' misery was compounded before the break when Duda saw his penalty saved by home goalkeeper Jaume after Valencia's Aderlan Santos had handled and Ignacio Camacho was then guilty of a glaring miss from close range.
Malaga also went close in the second half when Duje Cop's shot flew narrowly wide in the 66th minute and Raul Albentosa tested Jaume with a firm header in the 83rd minute.
Valencia made sure of the points with two minutes left when Parejo fired home from the penalty spot after Albentosa's foul on Danilo, with Malaga slipping to their fourth league defeat of the season.
