Sporting de Gijon 1 - 2 Real Betis: Real Betis come from behind to beat Sporting Gijon

Real Betis produced a second-half turnaround to win 2-1 at Sporting Gijon and pick up their first away victory of the season.

Carlos Castro put the hosts ahead in the 16th minute but Joaquin headed Betis level two minutes after the break and then Ruben Castro completed the turnaround with an impressive strike from outside the area.

Both sides missed several chances in the remaining half an hour but Betis held on and move on to eight points for the season, while Sporting remain on five.

The Asturians were looking for their first home win since returning to the top flight and began the game with intent.

Nacho Cases had a goal ruled out correctly for offside after four minutes and then midfielder Jony's shot hit the crossbar.

Their early pressure paid dividends when Croatia international Allen Hallilovic crossed from the right towards Carlos Castro, who beat two Betis defenders before knocking the ball past Antonio Adan.

Sporting undid their hard work two minutes into the second period, giving the ball away in their own half to allowing Alvaro Cejudo to cross towards Ruben Castro at the back post, and the striker's header teed up Joaquin to score from close range.

Adan made two impressive saves to prevent Sporting from retaking the lead and then helped create Betis' winner with a long kick upfield. Ruben Castro outmuscled a Sporting defender to get to the ball first and surprised everyone by shooting first time into the top corner.
