Barnsley will be without Conor Wilkinson when they return to League One action against Shrewsbury at Oakwell.

The striker, on loan from Bolton, is away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad.

Tykes boss Lee Johnson signed Michael Smith on loan from Swindon this week and, despite a minor problem with a blister, he should be involved on Saturday.

Johnson, who will have winger Ryan Williams back after a groin injury, is hoping to further bolster his strike force ahead of the game by signing free agent Simeon Jackson, who has been training with the club.

Shrewsbury manager Micky Mellon will have to make at least one change after his prized-asset was sold on transfer deadline day.

Highly-rated midfielder Ryan Woods joined Championship side Brentford on Tuesday.

Mellon may yet be tempted to field the same line-up that defeated Oldham 2-0 in the Football League Trophy in midweek, having made several changes from the team that loss 1-0 to Burton in League One last weekend.

Larnell Cole, formerly of Manchester United, is expected to feature at some point having arrived on loan from Fulham until January.
