Substitute Nicola Sansone headed in the winner six minutes from time as Sassuolo prevailed 2-1 at home to Napoli.

On the opening weekend of Serie A, Napoli captain Marek Hamsik got his team off to a flying start at the Stadio Citta del Tricolore with a third-minute goal.

He struck a right-footed shot past Sassuolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli from six yards.

Antonio Floro Flores equalised for Sassuolo in the 32nd minute when his right-footed effort beat Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

The hosts suffered a setback with star striker Domenico Berardi forced to leave the pitch through injury in the 63rd minute.

However, Sassuolo's final efforts paid off four minutes from time when substitute Diego Falcinelli's cross was deflected off Raul Albiol towards the path of Sansone, who beat Reina with a diving header.

Sassuolo celebrated their first ever victory over Napoli in the top flight as the southerners' new coach Maurizio Sarri endured a disappointing start.
