Scunthorpe United vs Millwall preview - Ness worry for Iron

Posted Friday, August 21, 2015 by PA

Scunthorpe new boy Jamie Ness is struggling to be fit for Saturday's League One clash with Millwall at Glanford Park.

Ness lasted only 45 minutes of his Iron debut in the 3-0 defeat to Wigan before being replaced by Sean McAllister at half-time with a hip injury.

Goalkeeper Luke Daniels returns from a three-match suspension following his red card on the opening day of the season and will return to the squad to challenge Joe Anyon, who has kept one clean sheet and saved a penalty in his absence.

Elsewhere, Niall Canavan (torn ankle ligaments) and Luke Williams (knee ligaments) remain the only long-term absentees.

Millwall will have to make at least one change after Shane Ferguson limped off in midweek.

The Newcastle loanee was withdrawn from the 3-2 home defeat by Barnsley on Tuesday night with a hamstring problem.

Summer signing Joe Martin is still sidelined by an ankle injury but the former Gillingham full-back could be back in contention next week.

Boss Neil Harris could make further changes after three home defeats in a week with Lee Martin, Ben Thompson, Paris Cowan-Hall and fit-again Aiden O'Brien pushing for starts.
