Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez would be delighted to receive a call from Rafa Benitez to say that he was still wanted by Real Madrid after spending a season there on loan, report Marca.
Hernandez has been with United since 2010 but he has never been able to force his way into the team’s starting XI under different managers.
When Louis van Gaal was hired last summer he didn’t give Hernandez much of a chance as the Mexican was sent out on loan to Real to act as back-up to Karim Benzema with Alvaro Morata having joined Juventus.
Hernandez didn’t necessarily do anything that spectacular with Madrid and although the Mexican has returned to United he made it clear he’d be happy to stay in Spain if Benitez gave him a call.
Asked if the forward was waiting for Benitez to call, Hernandez said: “I don’t know. If he does I’ll be delighted, but everything depends on playing, which is what every footballer wants. If that isn’t the case, I’ll look for a team where it is”.

With Carlo Ancelotti sacked Benitez has been hired on a three-year contract and it will be interesting to see what sort of changes he makes in his first window in charge.
Meanwhile, this season United have operated with captain Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao as the three main strikers but the latter has already gone back to Monaco after this loan which could open the door to Hernandez return to Old Trafford.
