Chelsea are on course to break Manchester United's record
Chelsea are on course to break Manchester United's record for most days spent leading the Premier League table if they win the title this season.
Aside from Tottenham briefly taking top spot earlier this term, Jose Mourinho's men have officially been in first place since August 30 - which means the Blues will set a new record of 274 days as leaders if they remain there at the end of the season, according to The Telegraph.
The current record for the most number of days sitting in first position in the league is held by United, who enjoyed 262 days as leaders during the 1993-94 season.
Mourinho's Premier League title winners of 2006 trailed that record by five days, but the Portuguese tactician's current side have already surpassed Arsenal's Invincibles team that clinched the Premier League in 2004.
With Chelsea currently seven points clear of second-placed Arsenal, Mourinho's men look likely to extend that gap and indeed overtake United if they can remain as Premier League leaders come May 13.
