SC Freiburg vs Koln preview - Streich boosted by Gunter deal

Freiburg coach Christian Streich has received a boost heading into the final eight games of the season with the news that Christian Gunter has committed to a new contract with the club.
The 22-year-old left full-back has signed new terms with the expiry date undisclosed, but nevertheless thought to be for several more seasons.
"Christian has become a key member of our team for the way he conducts himself on and off the field," said Freiburg's director of sport Jochen Saier.
"Despite his young age, he has already gained plenty of experience. We're delighted and see this as a very positive signal that he wants to carry on his career with us."
Gunter is one of many options Streich has for his team to face Cologne this weekend with the international break allowing several players who were carrying knocks to make full recoveries.
"I'm probably going to have to make some painful decisions on Saturday," said Streich at a press conference.
"I'm not going to be able to give everybody a start, but I'm happy to have this scenario and I just pray that it continues."
A win over Augsburg before the international break means Freiburg welcome a side five points ahead of them and in confident mood.
Their guests are no unfamiliar prospect either. Freiburg have beaten Cologne twice already this season - in the league and in the cup.
"Those games could have ended differently, though," said Cologne coach Peter Stoger.
"We know what we did wrong in both of those games and how we can beat them now."
