Man United could sign Newcastle United's Tim Krul, if David De Gea leaves, reports from the Daily Star.
It is reported by the Star that if the current Red Devils no. 1 De Gea fails to agree to a new deal with Man United and leaves for Real Madrid, then Louis van Gaal might decide to bring in his compatriot from Newcastle United.
De Gea has been in fantastic form this season and has been praised by a plethora of pundits since the Premier League kicked off in August.
The Spaniard has managed to keep 10 clean sheets so far in this campaign, as opposed to seven by Krul, and has been touted as potential winner of the Player of the Year award by Sky Sports.
Nonetheless, Man United might need to start planning for life without the former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper as rumours of an exit to Real Madrid will simply not die down.
Krul would represent a suitable replacement and his involvement with Van Gaal at the World Cup shows just how much the Dutchman trusts the goalkeeper.
The goalkeeper was thrust on in the dying minutes of extra-time of Holland's quarter-final against Costa Rica in the 2014 World Cup purely for the penalty shoot-out. Krul was hero and saved a number of penalties, as the Netherlands progressed to the semi-finals.
Man United have also been linked with other Netherlands stars such as Nigel de Jong, as reported by Mirror and Kevin Strootman, as claimed by the same newspaper.
Krul averages a 27% success rate with his punches this season.
