Peterhead 3 - 0 Brechin City: Blue Toon cruise past Brechin
Posted Sunday, March 15, 2015 by PA
Ten-man Brechin's Scottish League One promotion hopes were hit with a 3-0 drubbing at Peterhead.
The hosts were dominant from the off and James Stevenson brought a good save out of Graeme Smith.
But there was nothing Smith could do about Peterhead's opener, which came just after the half-hour mark when Gary McDonald struck from close range.
Brechin had Colin Hamilton sent off for a second caution in the 63rd minute and eight minutes later Peterhead doubled their lead as David Cox converted Stevenson's free-kick.
The game was put to bed deep into stoppage time when Jordan Brown powered home Cox's corner.
The result leaves City four points off top spot and destined for a play-off place, something which is still attainable for the mid-table Blue Toon.
