Dunfermline 2 - 2 Airdrie United: Dunfermline extend winless run

Posted Sunday, January 18, 2015 by PA

Dunfermline twice hit back from behind to earn a point in a 2-2 draw against Airdrie but their winless run was extended to six matches.

Airdrie took a 10th-minute lead when Jim Lister converted defender Jamie Bain's ball into the penalty area, low into the bottom corner from 10 yards, for his sixth goal of the season.

Neither side mustered a shot on target until Dunfermline defender George Buchanan headed just over the crossbar in the 24th minute.

Lister headed off target for Airdrie and visiting striker Bryan Prunty's shot from inside the area was well saved by Dunfermline goalkeeper Ryan Scully before Ross Millen converted from the penalty spot to equalise in the 34th minute following Scott Stewart's foul on Allan Smith.

Airdrie boss Gary Bollan was sent to the stands two minutes later but his side responded early in the second period when defender Bryan Gilfillan headed home substitute Liam Watt's 56th-minute corner.

Josh Falkingham and Buchanan forced Airdrie goalkeeper Andy McNeil into smart saves as the home side chased a second equaliser, which arrived when Michael Moffat arrowed a shot into the bottom corner in the 75th minute.
