Raith Rovers 2 - 1 Dumbarton: Raith close gap with win

Posted Sunday, January 18, 2015 by PA

Raith beat Dumbarton 2-1 to stay sixth in the league and close the gap on the teams above them.

Rovers, who were playing their first home game of 2015, took the lead in the 29th minute through a Ryan Conroy penalty after Chris Turner had fouled Grant Anderson.

Raith then doubled their lead on the half-hour mark when Anderson headed in Calum Elliot's cross from six yards.

Dumbarton pulled one back in the 80th minute when Mitchel Megginson's left-foot shot from inside the area nestled in the bottom left-hand corner.

Megginson almost equalised for the away side but his shot crashed off the crossbar. Dumbarton were unlucky not to earn a draw but defeat now means they have lost their last three games.
