Tranmere Rovers 2 : 1 Oxford United - Max powers Rovers through

Max Power netted a second-half winner as Tranmere beat Oxford 2-1 to book an FA Cup third-round tie with Premier League Swansea at Prenton Park.

Oxford applied the pressure early on with Danny Hylton hitting the side-netting before Owain Fon Williams superbly denied Johnny Mullins from close range.

Defender Mullins was needed down the other end after 26 minutes, blocking a Liam Ridehalgh volley to prevent a certain goal for Tranmere.

The visitors took the lead moments later as Alfie Potter, who scored against Liverpool for non-league Havant & Waterlooville in the FA Cup seven years ago, glanced a header past Fon Williams.

But Tranmere drew level when Kayode Odejayi bundled home a low cross from Cole Stockton in the 36th minute.

Joe Riley missed the chance to put United back in front early in the second half, shooting wide of Fon Williams' goal.

They were made to pay after Power's clinical finish after 76 minutes, smashing the ball past Ryan Clarke.

Fon Williams came to Tranmere's rescue to parry away Michael Collins' shot late on as Rovers held firm.
