Wycombe Wanderers 4 - 1 Southend United - McClure inspires Wycombe rout

A Matt McClure double gave Wycombe an emphatic third win in a row after a 4-1 trouncing of ten-men Southend at Adams Park.

The visitors had taken the lead through Jack Payne before goals from Paris Cowan-Hall and McClure gave the League Two leaders a half-time lead.

The Shrimpers lost Jerome Binnom-Williams to a straight red card before Joe Jacobson and McClure sealed the points for the home side.

Southend were off to flyer when Payne side-footed home after just two minutes before Cowan-Hall volleyed an equaliser following by Aaron Pierre's chest control in the area.

Wycombe were the better side in the first half and led before the break with McClure turning in Sam Wood's driven cross from close range.

Southend's task became more difficult on the hour mark when Binnom-Williams was shown red for a reckless lunge on Josh Scowen.

And the game was all over when Jacobson curled in a superb 20-yard free-kick before McClure rifled home the fourth on 71 minutes.
