Fleetwood Town 1 - 1 Sheffield United - Sarcevic pegs back Blades

Antoni Sarcevic scored his first Sky Bet League One goal to earn Fleetwood a share of the points in a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United.

The Blades slick passing caused Fleetwood problems from the off and Michael Doyle fired an early warning shot, beating Chris Maxwell from a tight angle only for his effort to come back off the woodwork.

Fleetwood could not get a foot on the ball, even around their own box and United took a deserved early lead when a loose ball fell to former Blackpool man Bob Harris on the edge of the box and he drilled a low finish past Maxwell into the bottom corner.

Fleetwood did turn up the pressure in the hunt for an equaliser, but struggled to find a way past a well-drilled United side, with Jamie Proctor's two long-distance efforts the best the home side could muster in the opening 45 minutes.

The hosts found more attacking resolve after the break and found themselves level when Josh Morris broke down the left and his cross met by the head of Sarcevic, who looped the ball over Blades goalkeeper Mark Howard for his first goal since Town's Wembley victory in May.

Both sides had chances to claim a winner, Proctor dancing into the Blades box and flashing a low shot across the face of goal, which bounced narrowly wide and Chris O'Grady, at the other end, forcing a strong save from Maxwell as he found himself unmarked at the back post.

Fleetwood youngster Nick Haughton almost scored a late winner with a 25-yard dipping volley which flew just over the crossbar.
