CR7 4ever

Cristiano Ronaldo no longer has to look up to Raul. The player scored the winning goal for his team against Basel, allowing his team to rack up 15 wins on the bounce. To boot, he equalled the former Real forward's Champions League goal record. Ronaldo didn't go down into the dressing rooms 100% happy, however, as the ambitious Portuguese knows that ahead of him stands Leo Messi. The Argentine's hat-trick last Tuesday has given him a three goal edge, and so the battle rages on.
After failing to score against Liverpool and following Messi's hat-trick against APOEL, it was expected that Cristiano Ronaldo would be running out onto Jakob Park Stadium chomping at the bit. An indeed he did. The player went into the Basel game determined to score the four goals needed to come level with the Argentine, but things weren't quite so easy for him as hoped for. He reached Raúl's number, but just the one goal came as a bit of a disappointment for the Real goal-machine. For the thousand Real Madrid fans in the stands, however, it was more than enough, and they bid their farewell to him chanting his name. CR7, like Raúl, now forms part of Real Madrid's legend.
The Swiss football fans were also full of praise for Ronaldo – five of them even ran out onto the pitch to give him a hug (two while warming up and three during the game). All were received with a warm welcome by the star player.
