Wayne Rooney: Leaving Man Utd for Arsenal was best thing Danny Welbeck could do

Wayne Rooney says quitting Old Trafford was the best thing Danny Welbeck could have done.
SWITCHING SIDES: Former team-mates Danny Welbeck and Wayne Rooney will face each other when Arsenal face Manchester United
The former team-mates go head to head at tea-time when Rooney leads Manchester United into battle at Arsenal.
Welbeck will have a point to prove after United boss Louis van Gaal allowed the England international to join the Gunners for £16m in August.
But according to United captain Rooney, Welbeck - who has scored five times in 12 appearances for Arsene Wenger's men - has already shown the move was spot-on.
Rooney said: "He is a Manchester lad so it is weird seeing him there. But that's football nowadays and players move on."
"I think, for Danny, and for his own personal career, it was probably the best move for him."
"He's done great and scored a few goals and is playing well. Danny gives you what he always gives you - a good shift. He works hard for the team."
"At times, as I said to him, he works a bit too hard but he's scoring goals and he's doing well."
United are desperate to maintain a remarkable record against Arsenal to prove they can still compete with the Premier League big boys following a disastrous start to the season.
They have lost only one of their last 14 games against Wenger's side and Rooney wants to keep that run going to leapfrog the Gunners and edge nearer the top four.
He told MUTV: "We've had some great memories. Beating them in the Champions League semi-final was probably the highlight of the games we've played there and won there."
"But we've had some great victories in the Premier League as well."
"It's always a tight game and whoever gets the first goal normally wins or gets a result. We have to go there with a good team shape and a good unit to make sure we do everything right."
"Arsenal have got a good squad, an exciting squad with a lot of young players and a lot of English players which is great for England."
"We know they play with a lot of energy and we'll have to be at our best to beat them."
