Manchester United interested in Douglas Coutinho says his agent

Manchester United have made an enquiry about Douglas Coutinho and his club are interested in selling, according to his agent Taciano Pimenta.

The 20-year-old striker is one of a number of talented Brazilian youngsters on the radar of European clubs and United have reportedly taken the first step by showing their interest in him.

"I had a query about interest and Manchester United,” Pimenta said.

"Obviously if they want to buy, the interest to sell is there. I go to see if it’s official.”

Monaco and Atletico Madrid have also been credited with an interest in the £7.5m rated striker from Atletico Paranaense and although the Brazilian league is in a strong financial position, his agent insists they are willing to sell.
From United’s perspective, the club already has young and talented strikers in abundance without adding Coutinho into the mix. James Wilson is part of Louis van Gaal’s first-team squad, Will Keane is working his way back to full form and Angelo Henriquez is tearing up the Croatian league with some fantastic goalscoring form.

In that regard, making moves for yet another striking talent would be ever so slightly strange but as is the case in football, you can never have too many talented youngsters, so it will be interesting to see how the story develops and whether United are interested in talking it further than preliminary talks.
