York vs Shrewsbury preview - Penn banned for Wilcox bow

York's new manager Russ Wilcox will be without suspended skipper Russ Penn in his first game in charge of the club against Shrewsbury.

Midfielder Penn sits out a one-game ban following two yellow cards in last week's defeat at Newport and Wilcox, installed as boss on Wednesday following Nigel Worthington's resignation, could recall Luke Summerfield or Tom Platt.

On-loan Sheffield United teenager Diego De Girolamo is hoping to make his home debut for the Minstermen, while fellow striker Jake Hyde (calf) is expected to return to contention.

Forwards Wes Fletcher (hamstring), Michael Coulson (groin) and defender Dave Winfield (thigh) remain sidelined as York chase their first home win of the season.

Recent signing Bobby Grant will be hoping to feature for Shrewsbury.

The 24-year-old former Rochdale marksman has joined on a month's loan from Championship side Blackpool but was an unused substitute in last week's defeat of Cheltenham.

Club captain Liam Lawrence came off the bench at half-time to replace Jordan Clark in that 3-1 success and could now regain a starting berth.

Dave McAllister is unavailable after being sent to Stevenage for a month, while Micky Mellon has confirmed fellow midfielder Aaron Wildig can also go out on loan.
