Tranmere Rovers vs Plymouth Argyle preview - Brezovan to keep Rovers place

Posted Friday, October 10, 2014 by PA

Tranmere will continue with Peter Brezovan in goal against Plymouth as their first-choice keeper Owain Fon Williams is away on international duty with Wales.

Brezovan was the hero in midweek as Rovers progressed in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy after their goalkeeper saved two penalties in the shoot-out win over Carlisle.

Both defender Janoi Donacien (back) and striker Abdulai Bell-Baggie (thigh) were forced off in that contest and the pair will be assessed prior to the Pilgrims' visit.

None of Tranmere's injury absentees are yet ready to return, with Cole Stockton (pelvis), Danny Woodards (foot), Matt Hill (Achilles) and Liam Ridehalgh (ankle) all still missing.

Plymouth look set to recall Bobby Reid when they make the long trip.

The Bristol City midfielder was unable to play in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy as part of his loan deal but will return to the matchday squad having sat out the midweek win over Swindon.

And he could be joined in the starting line-up by top scorer Reuben Reid and defender Anthony O'Connor who both began that 3-2 victory on the substitutes' bench.

Jason Banton could make a return to action having not featured for four games because of a groin injury. The winger was an unused substitute in midweek and will hope to make a start.
