Plymouth Argyle 0 : 1 Wycombe Wanderers - Wycombe win on the road

Gareth Ainsworth's in-form Wycombe became the first Sky Bet League Two side to take three points at Plymouth this season as they won 1-0.

Chairboys skipper Paul Hayes headed his side ahead from a 36th-minute corner, nodding in Aaron Pierre's flick-on from close range.

Argyle started with intent and top scorer Reuben Reid was predictably at the heart of their first meaningful attack, seeing a 13th-minute effort deflected wide as he sent a pacy angled drive towards goal.

Reid then forced visiting goalkeeper Matt Ingram to save well and the stopper easily dealt with Tyler Harvey's follow-up too.

Wycombe countered with Matt McClure's shot forcing Plymouth keeper Luke McCormick to turn the ball around a post.

McCormick was tested again by Josh Scowen's accurate low 25-yard drive after the break, which the keeper held at the second attempt.

At the other end Ingram nearly allowed Jason Banton's audacious inswinging free-kick from 35 yards to slip past him but managed to fingertip the ball around a post.

Banton then had his goal-bound shot blocked by defender Sido Jombati as Plymouth pressed for a leveller.

Ingram made a last-minute, stoppage-time save on the line to keep out a header from Plymouth skipper Curtis Nelson as Wycombe sealed an impressive victory.
