"Chicharito plays a little and scores a lot", says De Gea

David de Gea is a personal friend of Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez as well as being one of his ex-teammates at Manchester United, and he is in no doubt at all that Real Madrid have made a very good move in signing the Mexican forward.

The Spanish goalkeeper, in an interview on the Tiempo de Juego programme on the radio station COPE, assured that Chicharito is a player who guarantees goals. "I think he is a great signing for Real Madrid, he plays a little but he scores a lot".

Additionally, De Gea emphasised the human side of his friend. "Chicharito is a great person, one of the nicest I have met in the footballing world. He will do really well at Real Madrid", said the keeper, who will always be grateful to Chicharito for the welcome he received from him when he first signed for Manchester United.

De Gea is in no doubt at all that Javier Hernández has all the skills needed to be a big success at Real Madrid. And that this is also what Sir Alex Ferguson, who signed him for United in the first place, also thinks. "He will be a major success at Real Madrid and I’m confident that he will score plenty of goals".

Yet it is precisely confidence that the player has been lacking over the last couple of years. Ferguson did not give him many chances to shine in his last season as United's manager, and Moyes fewer still.
