Real and Germany squabble over Khedira injury - The blame game

Khedira's injury, in addition to being a serious setback for Real Madrid's depleted midfield, could become even more troublesome for them if it is proven that it did not occur while the player was away with the German squad. The controversy raging between the 'Los Blancos' club and the German Football Federation over pinning down exactly when the injury was picked up presents FIFA with a problem.
If the muscle tear happened while the German was training for his country, Real Madrid would receive financial compensation from FIFA, while if he was already injured before going out to join the German squad, Real would not be entitled to anything.
To be clear, however, the international football governing body only pays out after 28 days of absence through injury. The amount a club receives varies depending on the player's fixed salary and the number of days he misses training. Therefore, if Khedira is out for 45 days, Real Madrid would only be compensated for 17 of them.
This variable amount would never exceed a maximum of €20,548 per day that Khedira is unable to train. FIFA would stop the payments as soon as the German midfielder was given the medical all clear to rejoin training.
Real Madrid have already received a large sum of money from FIFA for the period Khedira was injured after the match against Italy last season.
