Walsall vs Yeovil preview - Smith waits on defensive pair

Posted Monday, August 18, 2014 by PA

Walsall boss Dean Smith has a defensive headache as they sweat on the fitness of James O'Connor and James Chambers ahead of the visit of Yeovil.

Versatile Chambers limped off with a hamstring problem in Saturday's Sky Bet League One 0-0 draw with Bradford and was covering for centre-back O'Connor, who missed the game with a groin injury.

Dean Holden made his first appearance since April 2013 as Chambers' second-half replacement and is likely to start against the Glovers.

Academy product Liam Kinsella, son of former Republic of Ireland international Mark, is also expected to continue at right-back after making his debut on Saturday.

Yeovil will once again be without Seth Nana Twumasi as they look to get their season up and running.

The full-back will serve the second match of his three-game ban for a red card in Tuesday night's Capital One Cup defeat to Gillingham, the first of two defeats against Peter Taylor's men last week.

The Glovers, who are searching for their first goal from open play and their first point of the new campaign, could shuffle their pack with Brendan Moloney, Sam Foley and Sam Hoskins all pushing to start.

Boss Gary Johnson has rotated his goalkeepers so far this season and he could recall Pole Artur Krysiak in place of Chris Weale.
