Burton Albion FC vs Dagenham and Redbridge preview - Selection poser brewing for Rowett

Gary Rowett could have a dilemma on his hands as he decides whether to change the Burton team that dumped Wigan out of the Capital One Cup ahead of Dagenham's visit on Saturday.

Shane Cansdell-Sherriff and Adam McGurk came into the side as the Brewers beat Wigan 2-1 to claim one of the biggest scalps in their history on Tuesday, but Rowett will have to think carefully about whether to stick or twist as he looks to maintain their winning start to the season.

Billy Kee could also be in line for a start after returning from a knee injury to make substitute appearances in both of the first two games.

Three men who definitely will not feature are left-back Damien McCrory and midfielders Jimmy Phillips and Lee Bell, who are all still recovering from knee injuries.

Dagenham suffered a heartbreaking cup exit in midweek but boss Wayne Burnett will have been happy to see Joss Labadie and Matt Partridge come through that amazing match unscathed.

Midfielder Labadie, 23, and 18-year-old defender Partridge were both unused substitutes for last weekend's clash with Morecambe after suffering knocks in pre-season, with striker Rhys Murphy the other notable summer injury.

Burnett was disappointed to bow out on penalties but pleased with the spirit shown to draw 6-6 with Brentford after extra-time following a poor League Two opener.

"The boys showed some good character to come back and it was a really good game in the end," he said. "We looked like a different team from the one against Morecambe; we were playing against a good Championship side and I'm very proud of my team."
