Stranraer will be without Steven Bell when they open their Scottish League One campaign by welcoming Forfar to Stair Park.
Bell has been ruled out with an ankle injury, but the big kick-off cannot come quick enough for manager Stephen Aitken.
Aitken said: "It is great that we are getting our season up and running, especially at home as we are usually strong here.
"It would be a great start to pick up three points from Forfar as they have strengthened over the summer.
"Their manager Dick Campbell has brought in terrific experience as well as recruiting Dale Hilson, who is an exciting talent, but we have good players here and we can win this game."
Forfar travel west without the experienced Darren Dods and new signing Stephen Husband, who are both suspended.
Manager Dick Campbell is also missing the injured Mark Baxter (foot) and Martyn Fotheringham (ankle).
Campbell is looking for his side to make sure to build on their encouraging display against Raith Rovers in the Scottish League Cup last weekend.
He said: "We pushed a full-time side all the way into extra-time and while we lost I was very happy with the performance that we put in.
"We are low on numbers, but if we play like that again Stranraer are going to have to play very well to beat us."
