AC Milan vs Sassuolo preview - Summer decision on Rossoneri coach

AC Milan go into Sunday's Serie A encounter against Sassuolo under a cloud of uncertainty as to who will guide the club next season.

Head coach Clarence Seedorf is under contract for a further two years, but reports in Italy have linked youth-team coach Filippo Inzaghi with the hotseat this summer.

Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has yet to confirm whether Seedorf, who had no prior coaching experience, will remain in charge.

The Dutchman replaced the sacked Massimiliano Allegri in January with the club languishing in 11th place.

"After our final game of the season, our administration council will meet and take a decision," Berlusconi said. "I don't exclude that Seedorf continues."

Seedorf's side head into their final game of the season with a slim chance of finishing sixth, having slipped to eighth place following a 2-1 defeat at Atalanta last weekend.

The Rossoneri are two points behind Torino, who are sixth and hold the last Europa League qualifying spot, and just one point adrift of Parma.

Milan must beat Sassuolo but also must hope that both Torino and Parma fail to collect three points from their respective games.

"We know we need a miracle as this is out of our hands," Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati said.

The hosts will be eager to make amends for the 4-3 defeat to Sassuolo earlier this year, which resulted in Allegri's dismissal.

Sassuolo travel to the San Siro in celebratory mood, having secured their top-flight status last weekend.

Their 4-2 triumph over Genoa last time out was Sassuolo's third win in their last four games and lifted them to 16th place, four points clear of the drop zone.

"This is worth a Scudetto for us," Sassuolo coach Eusebio Di Francesco said. "Achieving safety in our first season in Italy's top flight with one game remaining is nothing short of miraculous.

"I have to congratulate my players.

"Few thought we could avoid relegation, but we have proved them wrong and it's a great victory for us."
