Dundee 4 : 0 Cowdenbeath - Dees earn title boost

A double from Martin Boyle either side of half-time helped ease Dundee past Cowdenbeath with a 4-0 win to go top of the Scottish Championship, after leaders Hamilton dropped points.

The hosts took the lead after just five minutes through Craig Wighton after Peter MacDonald found the 16-year old forward, who slipped the ball past Sebastian Usai from close-range.

The Dees doubled their lead before the break as Boyle smashed his effort past Usai's near post and Jim McAlister headed in a third for Dundee after 60 minutes and Boyle converted MacDonald's pass by firing high into the goal for a fourth.

Jordan Morton came close to firing a consolation goal for Beath, failing to hit the target and Craig Beattie nearly made it five in the closing stages, only to be denied by Usai.

The win ends the Dees' run of two games without a win, putting them two points clear of Hamilton at the league's summit.
