Cowdenbeath vs Hamilton preview - Hemmings boost for Cowdenbeath

Struggling Cowdenbeath will be without James Fowler when they host title-chasing Hamilton at Central Park.

Fowler has returned to Kilmarnock following the end of his loan spell and is therefore unavailable, as are the injured Darren Brownlie (hamstring) and Kenny Adamson (foot).

However, top goalscorer Kane Hemmings is set for a return after a hamstring problem and the Fifers could also spring a surprise by including a trialist striker who used to play with Benfica.

Cowdenbeath manager Jimmy Nicholl said: "We gave ourselves a real boost by defeating Morton 3-0 in midweek. It would be terrific to build on that with a win over a good Hamilton side."

Hamilton player/manager Alex Neil is over the groin injury that has kept him out since October but a lack of recent game time, as well as a fine run from his side, may keep him on the sidelines.

The Accies have Stephen Hendrie and Paul George available after illness as they look to keep the pressure on leaders Dundee.

Neil said: "We have got a lot to play for in this game and so have Cowdenbeath so I am expecting a really tough contest. There will be a lot of fighting for the second ball and the game will be scrappy but at this stage winning is everything."
