Ayr Utd. 2 : 1 Arbroath - Ayr brush aside Arbroath

Posted Sunday, March 23, 2014 by PA

Michael Donald's 22nd-minute dismissal did not stop Ayr from recording their third win in a row as they beat Arbroath 2-1 at Somerset park.

Craig Malcolm gave the home side a perfect start after just four minutes when Brian Gilmour set him up to finish into the bottom right corner from inside the area.

However Donald's reckless tackle left the referee with no choice but to send him off and reduce the home team to 10 men.

The man advantage paid off for Arbroath as Kenny Deuchar scored his first goal after coming out of retirement to pull them level after 38 minutes with a header from inside the box.

But they were level for two minutes before Michael Moffat's 25th of the season went in after more good work by Gilmour.
