Queen of South 2 : 1 Cowdenbeath - Doonhamers edge past Cowden

Queen of the South survived a late scare as they held on to see off Cowdenbeath 2-1 at Palmerston Park.

Christopher Higgins fired the hosts in front when he turned in Christopher Mitchell's corner after 16 minutes.

The visitors almost replied immediately but for a fine save from Alexander Clark to deny Greg Stewart.

However, they found themselves further behind just after the half-hour mark when Gavin Reilly produced a neat finish from close range.

Rory McKeown tested the reflexes of Clark midway through the second-half before Sebastian Usai did well to deny Derek Lyle at the opposite end.

There was a glimmer of hope for Cowden when substitute Sammy Stewart fired home in stoppage time but Jim McIntyre's side held out for a narrow victory.
