Brechin vs Forfar preview - Smith back for Brechin

Posted Wednesday, January 01, 2014 by PA

Brechin goalkeeper Chris Smith could return in the Angus Derby against Forfar after a hand injury and Greg Cameron is available after suspension.

Missing for the Glebe Park side are Gerry McLaughlan, who has a calf injury, and Stuart Anderson with a groin problem.

Manager Ray McKinnon said: "We are going into this game very frustrated with ourselves. We played really well against Stenhousemuir on Saturday but failed to take our chances which included a penalty and lost 1-0.

"We need to put that right as there is little point in playing as well as we did if you do not score. Hopefully we can score and win against Forfar."

The Loons are again without skipper Gavin Swankie, who has a hamstring injury, and Odmar Faero with family commitments.

Station Park manager Dick Campbell is warning his men that Brechin will be out for revenge.

He said: "We knocked them out of the Scottish Cup recently after two cracking cup ties. We were behind four times in the two ties and kept coming back before winning through on penalties.

"That makes this game extremely difficult as they will be out to make up for it. We want to get into a play-off place in 2014 and winning this game would be a great first step."
