Fabio Coentrao's father dies

The Real Madrid -Valladolid match was affected before the start by the news that the father of Portuguese player Fabio Coentrao had died. The news came barely one hour before the kick-off.

Both teams and their fans observed a respectful minute's silence in memory of Coentrao's father.

Fabio Coentrao, who has been out with the injury he sustained in the second leg World Cup qualifying play-off match in Sweden, departed for Portugal to say farewell to his father, who will be buried on Sunday afternoon in the Portuguese town of Caxinas.
