Stranraer 3 : 2 Arbroath - Grehan at the double

Posted Sunday, October 06, 2013 by PA

Martin Grehan struck twice in the first half as Stranraer overcame Arbroath 3-2 to record their second win of the season.

He got his first after 11 minutes when he headed Mark Corcoran's cross into the roof of the net, and Stranraer's second came after 30 minutes through Jamie Longworth's close-range bullet header.

Grehan's second arrived six minutes before half-time when he swept home Grant Gallagher's cross.

Arbroath were shellshocked yet fought gamely to get back into it. Lee Erwin pulled one back after 59 minutes when he rifled into the bottom corner from 12 yards.

And they ensured a nervy ending thanks to Alan Cook's penalty, his seventh goal of the season, though Stranraer held on.
