Stenhousemuir 1 : 1 East Fife - Stenny denied
Posted Sunday, October 06, 2013 by PA
John Gemmell scored his fourth goal of the season for Stenhousemuir but it was n0t enough as bottom-club East Fife fought back for a 1-1 draw.
Stenhousemuir almost took a fourth-minute lead but Darren Smith's effort cannoned back off a post, and minutes later, Pat Clarke's header whistled past the post for East Fife.
The home side took the lead midway through the half when Smith was hauled down by goalkeeper Greg Paterson and Gemmell blasted his penalty home.
But East Fife hit back on the stroke of half-time when Clarke's teasing cross was emphatically converted by Craig Johnstone from six yards.
Neither side could find a winner, though Paterson had to be at his best to deny Sean Dickson late on.
