After Leo comes Andres

Barcelona and Andrés Iniesta are getting closer to an agreement over the player's contract extension. There is still no deal in place but everything indicates there being no problem when the time comes for the Castilla La Mancha born player to renew with the club at which he started his career.
The club is conscious of the player’s importance and with that in mind the plan is to reward him with a fair contract for a player of his stature.
Both parties continue to negotiate at the moment but everything points to Iniesta becoming the second best paid player in the squad, with only Leo Messi earning more. If agreed, he will earn a basic salary higher than that of Neymar, without taking into consideration the fee paid to the Brazilian upon sealing his transfer. He will also leap above players such as Xavi or Puyol in the Barça wages league, with a salary of more than €12 million, which could reach a total of between €15 and €16 million when all variables are taken into account.
The midfielder will sign the contract until 2018 allowing him to finish his career at Barça. He started at the club in 'La Masía' at the age of 13 and if he reaches the end of this proposed contract he will be 34, making it more than 20 years in the 'Azulgrana' shirt.
Piqué the next to be rewarded
The next player to sign an extension should be Gerard Piqué with whom the club has started initial conversations about a new improved contract. Barcelona also wants him to sign until 2018 when the central defender will be 31.
