New Málaga coach Bernd Schuster admitted after his side's 1-0 defeat to Valencia at Mestalla that the result had been "a shame", but that his team's general play had pleased him.
He added that he did not expect to take any points from his first three games of the season against Valencia, Barcelona and Sevilla, so he is not too worried, although he expects his side to produce a good performance in its next game at home to Barcelona.
"This calculation does not necessarily mean we are definitely going to lose these three games", the German coach added.
"Today we deserved at least a point and we worked hard, to the point where we were in control of Valencia with the only goal coming from an error we committed ourselves", Schuster added.
He explained that the game was very tight and that it was a step in the right direction for his side. "I know we have to improve some things, but we gave Valencia a game and showed them we were on a par", Schuster concluded.
