Barcelona brought its pre-season to an end after another victory. The team began its preparations in July and the new era under Tata Martino kicked off with the friendly against Bayern Munich on 24th July. The Catalan side went head-to-head against Pep Guardiola's team, with the Germans clinching a 2-0 victory.
Bayern was the only major team to face Barça during the pre-season, as the remaining matches were against considerably weaker opposition. The team won convincingly in Norway against Valerenga by a 7-0 scoreline, with Messi and Alexis taking centre stage. In Poland, the side was held 2-2 by Lechia Gdansk, with Neymar making his Barça debut.
In August, Barça contested the Trofeo Gamper, which saw Messi and Neymar play together for the first time. In the match against Santos at the Camp Nou, the two star players lined up together and showed the making of a deadly partnership.
The club then toured Thailand and Malaysia. On 7th August the team went head-to-head with a Thailand side at the Bangkok national stadium and convincingly won 7-1. The team's game against Malaysia also ended in victory to bring an end to the club's pre-season campaign, which has not seen the best football displayed by Barça. The next stop is the Spanish League, which will be played on 18th August against Levante.
